I own a 86 Rx7 Gxl and I'm planning on picking up a 87 rx7 with 2x2 seating. My gxl has too much body rust and the rx7 that im planning on buying has a great body. I personally like the cargo compartments over the 2x2 seating. So basically to get to the point is it easy/or possible to convert the 2x2 to a cargo area.

I dont see why it would be any major task to convert the backseat area to a back storage area so long as you have everything for the swap. It seems like to me the only things you would run into would be the seatbelt assemblies which can easily be taken out. I am not sure though if the correct mounting points are in place for the storage compartments to hold into place. I have three FC's and none of them had the rear seats in them. One didnt even have the storage area, just a solid cover where the storage area should have been or even where the seats could have been. Really the only way you will be able to tell if you cant do the swap is to look at everything in the two cars and compare the differences if there are any besides having seats or storage compartments. Hope this helped.
