Im looking for a new intake system for my 87 TII and Im noticing that they all specify 87-88 or 89-91. What is different between the two that the aftermarket intake from one wont fit the other?

afm is different. the 87-88 you need an adaptor, 89-91 the filter can just go right on the afm

Hmmmm.... I see. So I either have to get a kit for the correct year or replace the AFM with a 89-91 version. Cool. Thanks

You can't just bolt on a S5 AFM to a S4. I know a couple of ppl that did the adapting (basically wiring work) to use the S5 afm with a s4 ECU, I wouldn't recomend it though. Just get a intake that's made for a S4.
