You're not the first to have considered this possibility. Seek and ye shall find info.

lol, yeah, we've met before....

um personally, i'm not a big fan of the v8, but if you are a big fan of v8's, the fc is an excellent place to put one.

the turbo swaps all end up kinda complex and expensive, so if you have the v8, and people who know how to mount it etc, it might not be a bad choice.

ls1/fc swap works great, except it still doesnt pass smog in ca, cause you need to install all the obd2 crap

LS1/FC...very fast. but very exspensive. the LS1 is what? 5-6000? not sure. but you can hook up the TII set up onto your NA in about 3 hours. under 500 after everything.you could tune with a SAFC. but prepare for blow seals. look into a stand alone ECU. the stock TII fuel pump, and injectors will be needed along with the swap.

i did it with no tuning at about 6 pounds. pulled pretty damn hard. i sold the TII kit and then the car before i got to break her though.

needed from a stock TII:

injectors

Fuel pump

upper/lower intake manifold and throttle body

turbo manifold/turbo

Down pipe

intercooler and hoses

blow off valve

i almost forgot. on the "block" you will have top shave down a piece of usless metal to fit the manifold . its under all the emissions crap. and tapping the front cover seemed to work better than the oil pan. but dangerous if messed up.

i really want to do a turbo setup tho... how much does it cost for a t2 with tranny to be put in

You might get lucky, but the consensus seems to be that they pretty much need to be rebuilt before you go to the trouble of dropping it into your car.
