I believe the O2 sensor only contributes to lower emissions and better fuel economy by letting the ECU meter the fuel to the optimal condition at cruising speed, or "closed loop" operation. When you stomp the gas, the O2 sensor input is ignored and the computer will dump in a safe amount of fuel according to the default "map".

So, with your sensor unplugged you might not get the awesome gas mileage you're used to... But I wouldn't expect it to run much different.

I've seen cars that run better with the sensor unplugged.

it's the same bosch number i believe. THe computer goes into a safe mode, but it doesn't really do much, except just use more gas. you'll really notice it, in traffic.
