Gxl to turbo??????

Hey, so basically if you want turbo and have a gxl you need a whole new motor that is turbo in order to get it? Or can you get some kind of conversion kit or somethin'? Reason I ask is because you can make other cars that are not turbo, turbo without swapping motors. But is the rx-7 different in that area?

You can make a custom turbo setup for the car, but the fuel system and drivetrain won't really be up to the task. The best way to do it is to use the TII motor, transmission, driveshaft, and rear, along with the sensors and ECU. If that seems like something you would do then I can give you a list of everything needed.

turbo

piping to throttle body

clamps

custom oil and water lines

boost controller

tII injectors

tII downpipe

custom exhaust flange to mate tII turbo

You can run pretty high boost levels with compression rotors, but the tuning has to be good.

So what is the least expensive way out? If I keep my engine and get turbo and do what I need to do, will it be as good as any other "stock" turbo car? Or would a turbo engine be best? I am going toward just keeping my engine, and go from there. Either way I am probably going to spend a lot of money. But I just want to be sure if I should keep my engine or not. Cuz I don't want to buy a piece of sh*t engine with a million miles on it just cuz it's turbo. So basically I'm confused. Has anyone else kept their engine and got turbo in here? And if so is the list that bigtime made up all I need? Cuz I can always get a new drivetrain and fuel system if that's all that's gonna not keep up with the turbo. Cuz I would want to upgrade those anyway. I'm sorry this is so long, but I am seeking different opinions in the situation. :smilewinkgrin:
