ok i have been wanting a gmc sonoma for a long time. what i want is a stepside ext cab with the factory 5 spoke wheels i think they are 16s. i wanted it to be a vortec v6 with a 5 speed bc i have driven one of those and the thing was fun and pretty quick. now that i think more about it and have been looking for one like that and cant find a v6 i have been thinking maybe get the L4 and throw in a 20b. i was planning on eventually blowing the v6 anyways and this would be more power. how much do you guys think the swap would cost and how difficult? hopefully someone in here has done work on sonomas before. i guess i would have to also change the tranny but i dont know about all of that so all of the help i can get will be appreciated

Whoa. That would definately be different.. It sounds like it would be kinda difficult.. worse than putting one into a FC at least.

I think your main concern would be space. Im not sure how big the engine bay is on those but it could be a problem. Other than that you just need custom mounts for everything. You might be able to use a tII tranny depending on how the shifter lines up. Might have to move the motor/tranny back some for it, or change the location of the hole if possable. Then a custom driveshaft to the rearend which hopefully the stock truck one can hold the power. then you have the other little bits and peices like ecu, IC, fans, radiator, ect....

the bay is def bigger than that of an fd so i think that would be no prob. hmm this would be really sweet. what about reliability on 20Bs? this would be a daily driver. also im in tx so i would need an ac.

fc3s.org sells 20bs and a few other places. They are j-specs though a new one is going to cost alot.
