I have a friend how is building a 89' mustang gt. He's putting two T3/4 Turbos off of the turbo thunderbirds. His dad is a welder too, so he was gonna have custom fabricated headers for the 5.0. The ultimate goal for that car is a bored out block with bigger turbos and a much more agresive cam trying to get 600+hp.

I haven't talked to him in almost a year, when I went to Kettering University I lived with him, but since I've transfered I haven't talked to him. Come to think of it, I should prolly give him a ring on the tele.

You guys wanna know something really scary.......??

Ford actually put there own 2 rotor engine in the early Mustang, coupled to the 289 auto tranmission (read wrong gearing) it was mildly slower than the V8. Correct gearing would have seen it surpass the 289 cast iron junker.

Specifically, they used a Curtiss-Wright engine called the RC-260. Meaning 60 cubes per rotor. Not being into old fashioned imperial measurements, I don't know what size that is in litres.

This was done around 1966 if my memory recalls.

Wouldn't that have been a blast if Ford went ahead with it...............

The 13B is 80CI so I guess that would make it 40CI per rotor. So that other engine would have been more like a 15A. I wish Mazda would have produced the 15A.

How about a 20b in a 1970-1973 Mach 1?
Did some1 say my name? 70-73? 70 was different body style than 71-73. IMO, 69 & 70 fastbacks are the best looking mustangs ever built. Then there are the 71-ups. If it's not a 428 in a 69 or 70, it better be a screeeeaamin' 787B motor! I'd say the sound of the 4-rotor can take care of the popularity issue at car shows. If it was me with the 67, I'd just wait until the new 5.0 CAMMER crate engine is available to the public. A TT 5.0 DOHC.....now that's custom!

j9fd3s mentioned a T5 tranny. You mean the Borg-warner that was in Datsuns too, right? That won't bolt up though, will it? Youd need an adaptor to fit it to a rotary?

I had no idea anybody made an adaptor to bolt a rotary to a T5. I'm planning on dropping a 13B in a 240Z, so that knowledge could make my life considerably easier. Sorry, guess thats kinda unrelated. A 20B in a Mustang? That would be the only Mustang I would actually like to ride in
