This is one of our shop cars that we work on when we get a chance. A year or so, ago I decided that is was time for a 20B. The core engine arrived on 8-27-08, 8-26-09 we fired it up for the first time. We did not plan it this way, it just happened.

So on to the good stuff. We were lucky enough to source a D series engine (D303)for the project. We rebuilt the engine with an aggressive streetport. It required two new housings so we opted for two brand new 20B housings, just to keep the numbering correct. Exhaust sleeves have all been swapped for FD's. The Exedy twin disc clutch was used to get the power to the trans.

We decided it was a perfect time to strip the engine bay and have it repainted. So we delayed the project by a few weeks so that this could be done:

For the turbo we went with the Garrett GT42RS (102mm) with the Tial 1.01 v-band turbine housing. We also used the Tial 60mm wastegate.

Engine management is the Microtech LT-16 (one of the very first in the country when we bought it). We designed a custom adapter harness to make it plug and play with the hybrid Cosmo/FD engine harness that we made. This made it much simpler to keep the speedo, wipers, fan relays, etc all functioning normally. Honestly when looking in the engine bay it looks like there is a OEM engine harness, that is because it is.

There was lots and lots of custom piping, bracketry, etc. to make for the project. We made a custom Greddy elbow to mate to the 20B TB. We used a custom mounted Koyo N-flow and dual 25 row oil coolers to keep the fluids cool. Every vacuum, fuel, oil coolant line is all ss braided.

Now we get to start driving it and putting some break in miles on it. The initial short trips have already been a blast, the car spins the tires with any blip of the throttle.

The entire year long project can be seen on our website : Banzai Racing 20B Conversion Turbo Installation

Whats the finish that they have put on the rotor housings? Is it just clean? Polished without smoothing first? I'm trying to come up with ideas for when I do mine and I like that.
