lol, with all the people doing 20B installs at the moment the 5000 total engines built inventory is starting to get depleted.. The cool thing is for a engine and car only sold in Japan most of them are ending up in the USA and AUSI... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

You reckon thats it? I know not many cars were built.

I wonder if there are any 'new unused' stocks like the S4 13Bt's a few years back.

Better gets me a spare!

Dragon 10-02-2003 02:08 AM

4,000 total cosmos 20B cars were built and 1000 extra crate engines were also put together as replacement engines for those cars and that was it...

Thats why for awhile I was thinking of a 3 rotor 13b like the hitman uses.Easier for parts seeing as all 5000 motor will be in cars soon. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

You mean like the one I have https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

A great find - "0" run time - never been lit. It is for when the original A Spec motor goes in the Cosmo. This crate engine is a D6xx !

Not just 0 hours, D spec as well https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Were you one of my Aussie mates I would call you a fuggin barstard.

Seeing as how I don't know you, I will be polite & call you a fuggin barstard https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rotarychainsaw 10-05-2003 09:57 PM

What's Dspec??

While I'm on it what are the differences between the different types of 3 rotors?

3Rotor 10-05-2003 10:07 PM

Essentially of the 5000 engines, they each had a 1000 block series. The first engines, as the one in my Cosmo is an "A" spec motor - among the first 1000. It has simply a three digit "serial" number stamped into the housings/plates. There is no actual letter. The next series was stamped with a "B" and three numbers, next 1000 with a C, next with a D. The original design - the "A" spec motors have been known to have some issue with eccentric shaft flex under certain boost condition (dialed up). Of course, with proper car and maintenance, a 20B can last for in excess of 141,000 km (87,000 miles), because my Cosmo still has the original engine.

Robbomaz 10-05-2003 10:07 PM

Has a D prefix before the engine number...indicates a VERY late motor!

I believe (feel free to set me straight guys) updates were more in the correcting of issues that surfaced than anything else. I know A prefix engines had oiling issues and flog centre bearings & eccentrics. There may be other issues too, thats the main one as far as I know. This was fixed in B prefix engines. My C 6xx was the latest I had seen until this pic. I missed buying C 2xx in a clip on Friday by a few hours...!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Yep. We did an unknown kms good compression A series 20B into an FB in 1994, running 10-12 psi & std terbs and a leadfoot driver. This guy was fairly unsympathetic, the car got serviced the same way a Camry might (ie when he could be bothered to bring it in!)

Rebuilt it last year, the centre bearing was spread & worn out completely. The E-shaft had visible scoring, but it turned out to be slight enough that it linished clean. So I guess really you could probably say that the B,C & D are more desirable but the early one will still do the job https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

an_juan 10-07-2003 11:17 AM

where should this serial number be? I looked all over the housings/plates and can't find anything. The only thing that looks like a serial number is on the front side plate. There's a number stamped on the top, 100408. Is that it?
