Hello Gent's & a few Fem's.

Well it's now been 5 weeks since I sent back my Holley to Racing Beat, 7 calls later they promised to have it on my doorstep by Friday???

They sure like to talk about what they did wrong, but lack in fixing it and sending the Carb back to you.

I called them yesterday and talked to Jim Tanner i.e. Manager (nice guy) and he is going to throw in a Pulley & Dual Alternator System. OK I guess it was worth the wait considering I was planning on ordering them anyway.

Free is Good!!!

Now for the fun part.

How to keep the Key in place while removing the Main Pulley And what position should it be facing since it can be put on 4 different ways.

I don't believe it was installed correctly to begin with???

Any Great Suggestions would be helpful.

I've read alot of threads on this project threw this site and the other one and there seems to be quit a few differences. i.e Keyway facing 9:00-another one keep it pointing downward so the bearing does not fall.

Lost+Lost.

Someone in this wonderful rotor world has to have the altimate answer. Please Please.

well the key way is opposite of tdc, tdc is when the rotor face is up against the spark plugs.

The position of the motor does not matter when installing RB pully. The timing marks on the pulley are iscribed, and the key way is machined, hence the relation between the key way location and the timing mark location CAN NOT change. (the pulley is also one peice)

The easiest way I have found is to locate the key way in the 12 o'clock postion, remove the eccentric bolt (very tight, very tough to remove). After the bolt is loose, have a partner press down AND HOLD the clutch pedal until the eccentric bolt is reinstalled. Now remove the eccentric bolt, at the same time using a small screw driver or leather puch to firmly press the key in the key-way towards the motor. Don't worry it can't fly out. Remove the stock pully. Install the RB pully being VERY careful not to allow the key to move. Make sure teh key has not movedmake sure the pully is fully seated and reinstall the eccentric bolt, Tourqe to 90 lbs-ft and tell you friend to relax.

Good Luck

i did the same thing but since i have no friends i used a piece of wood wedged between the pedal and drivers seat.

Thanks Ryan & Mike for the info.

My RB Carb was on my doorstep Friday to include the FREE Dual Alternater & Main Pulleys :)Ya:Hoo. Free is Good!

I bought an air compressure i.e 175 pounder with all the other **** you need to use one of these things. I can't believe that all these yesrs of working on Jeeps, Durangos and 6 RX-7s I survived with out one.

Anyhow; Gonna do the Pulley's change over today. Have a friend to help with the Clutch issue called 2x4, but a little confused in the proper Keyway position. Been told by a couple of RotorHeads it's supposed to be at the 9:00 and now I read from Ryan to line it up at 12:00???

Since I did the rebuild I know for a fact I installed incorrectly and do not want to make the same mistake again.

OK: 12:00 or 9:00 Help.

Mike just so you know I did do the Rotor thing and it still can be off as much as 2 gears on the Disti or maybe I'm just to stupid to figure it out. Just a Laugh.

Thanks Guys for the input as usual.
