Does anybody know the difference between the factory AC for the GSL-SE and the other models in 1984?

I know manufacturers frequently change compressor vendors; best price of the month I suppose, but is the compressor bracket on the engine the same?

I am assuming the hoses, expansion valve, drier, evaporator and condenser are the same right?

thanks,

The gsl se had a Lighter a/c made by a different co.(I have read).

Im not sure if IT will bolt to the bracket you have but I bet the gsl se BRACKET will bolt to your motor.

the gsl-se has nippon denso ac and most of the rest of them have a wynns/sanden system. there are almost no compatible parts between the 2 systems. i think the compressor brackets are the same though

OK, so buying an AC system off a 12A would be a mistake if my intent was to install it on a GSL-SE...

Exactly what I needed to know.

Actually...where do you get this info...I looked through the 1984 FSM and there is nothing on AC. Haynes doesn't mention it, Mictchell does, but it is way too generic and nothing about difference between systems.

Where can I get reliable info on the factory AC systems?

My Dodge Dakota manual has over 100 pages on the AC system...they aren't that different, condenser, evaporator, hi line, low line, filter/drier/accumulator, and orifice tube or expansion valve/block. What is the big secret?

See if the main connections are the same.

I dont see why you couldnt do it if you really want to, you'll probably just have to change a little more of it out then you originally thought

Thanks. The copies of the manuals I have came from iluvmyrx7, but I didn't see the supplement. The real manuals are tough enough to get, I suppose those are very difficult also.
