anyone know how much a 1st gen weighs?? need to know for my swap

 

2300lbs for a GS as per the mazda handbook.



I weighed my car in at 2183lbs after i got rid of the emissions including the a/c, air pump and some of the interior pieces like the cubby holes behind the seats and some of the carpet and plastic pieces in the hatch.

 

2183!!!!

 

My 1980 weighed 2280 on the dime when I weighed it on the truck scale at work (accurate to 2 pounds). It was 100% stock with everything at the time and 1/2 tank of gas.

 

my 83 was 2330, full tank of gas bone stock.



gsl-se is a porky 2540.....

 

Getting rid of the stock exhaust relieves alot of weight! No more heavy catalytic convertes! Same goes with the A/C and airpump, so much dead weight. When I get the car back its gonna get the grinder to it and the sound deadening material along with the rest of the interior is going with it.



I also was running without a stereo when i weighed it, lol. I think about 3/4 tank of gas.
