a few weeks ago i was driving home from work and i seen another fb about 7 or 8 cars ahead of me at the light, it was pretty sweat and i wanted to get the guys attention so i reved my engine. next thing you know the light changes and he lights em up like ive never seen an fb do and to top it of the thing had a familiar yet foriegn to the car sound, Imediatly i step on the gas and flew up the turning lane in order to catch him and see what the hell he did to that car. and let me tell you my hands where trembling with excitment to see what the hell was in it. finally after a mile or so i manage to catch up at a redd light and asked him to pull over, when he pops the hood low and behold the biggest disapointment of an rx7 ever, a chevy 350 smallblock. can you believe that **** if you wanted a 350 get an iroc or something. man that was like meeting a hot girl at the club to find out when you bring her home to bang that she has a dick. what a shame I mean i guess the smooth lines and hugging **** pit of the rx7 is irrisistable to most. i mean what

kind of an https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/*******.gif does this. the only thing goodthing i have to say is the low end torque was bannanas. the reason aside from the smooth power that poeple get rx7's is cause of the addicting whineing sound of the rotary.

last year I saw a 91 with a bug catcher sticking out of the center of the hood being towed buy a big ford truck, needless to say I laughed at him when I told him he should of fixed the roundy round mtr, and did a nice tire fryer out of there in the repu. last year I was at the junk yard in spokane and a old dude rolls up in a hagard looking gsl-se, he had put a 22re (toyota) in it. I did tryed to get the 13b from him but he never called me back, could of been my uncontroled laughter at his prized hybred.

yeah a 22r engine is worst then puttin a v8. what a wadd that old dude was, i say the laugh was in order.lol

he needs a good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683431.gif for that one. what a pair of clowns shoes.

+1. It's just not worth the effort. They gave up on the rotary and it's their loss!

I used to get pissy about it myself until I had a chance to ride in an 84 with a juiced 302. Now I see why people do it.

You mean you like the piston engine swap? BLASPHEMY!!! Dood! swapin' a piston engine into an RX-7 just defeats the whole purpose of having an RX-7! Do a V8 swap to a Cavilier or something. That would be entertaining, but replacing buzzers with bangers is kind of pointless to me...But that's just my opinion, not yours... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

I have an '83 GS with a no motor. I have a 472 Cadillac sitting on my garage floor just aching for a budget rebuild. I have a front-sump oil pan, a mid-sump oil pan, a rear-sump oil pan, and the appropriate pick-up tubes for the Cadillac engine so I can get around steering linkage just about any which way. I've taken measurements and the Cad motor will fit with headers (which wouldn't fit in my old '81 Camaro). The car cost me $77.61. The motor was pulled out of a '69 Calais I bought for $100. Can you say $2008 challenge?

The reason everybody likes swapping engines into RX-7s is because they're practically built for swaps. Check Granny's Speed Shop if you want more info, but I'll sum it up here for you. The rotary engine's eccentric shaft sits higher than a piston engine's crankshaft, so the transmission tunnel has to be larger, meaning you can fit a bigger transmission like what is needed behind a V8. The engine bay is deep and wide and the MacPherson strut suspension means there's not much in the way - my Camaro had suspension arms that severely limited engine swaps. The RX-7 has no funky computers requiring custom wiring to put in alternate motors. RX-7s were built for road racing, which means they can handle the torque of a V8, especially if you add a rollcage - which are readily available. RX-7s can be lightened up to under a ton with some work and maybe a little fiberglass. A bare-bones V8 weighs about the same as a stock 12A with all the trimmings (including A/C, oil cooler, sub-zero start assist, etc.).

You can try telling me it's sacralige, but I'll do it anyways. I love my half-bridgeport, but I also love a good torque motor, and the Caddy's a torque god. I have yet to see a streetable rotary engine RX-7 that can pull a wheelstand, but I'll bet the Caddy would do it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
