I figure I will have to rebuild this '80 I'm thinking about buying.

Here's my questions:

If I stuck with the 12a motor, how much could I mod it to get more HP out of it, but not affect how long it would last, and still be a good daily driver? What kind of mods should I do and what's a reasonable HP goal?

Same question if I decide to drop a 13b in it...

Does that make sense?

with the 12a you could have between 130-180hp and still be a good street car, and without building a tmie bomb. on a 13b you can do between 130-200+ and still be pretty tame.

the upper hp #'s require something like a big street port and a well tuned weber. the lower numbers are doable with just an exhaust

nod1stgen, I see you have a 6 port 12a.

How do you recognize that engine?
