Weld drag wheels, has anyone installed any welds on their first gen, if so what offset, width, and rim size did you go with, along with tire size without rubbing or modifying any sheetmetal. Its a 80 with GSL-SE bolt pattern and suspension technique 1 inch drop springs. Suggestions, opinions, comments, ideas??????? I love the way a first gen looks with draglites but dont know what size to order.

isnt that the guy with the "shotgun" turbo set up on cardomain? anyway, they got the nice classic look i think, and the only thing i would be worried about is weight. but yeah, do it to it. oh btw, the only help i can offer is my wheelbase only supported as big as 15" which i know isnt the max, but it gives me all the turning radius i need

Runnin pizza cutters up front would give you all the turning radius ya need if in fact this is gonna be a drag car.

Draglites come in numerous different widths and diameters.



As far as a size, I would not recommend you go more than a 15x7, you might be able to squak a 15x8 in the rear. I don't know the offset though. I'm puzzled as to how your '80 model has a GSL-Se pattern unless you have did a conversion to a GSL-SE suspension. Otherwise, your pattern should be a 4x110mm, which would require some mild modification to any Draglite.

I wrecked my old SE and swappped all the suspension, brakes, brake lines and master cylinder to my 80 to get away from the evil bolt pattern. Im running some 15x6 mesh wheels from an 86 Maxima with 225/50/15 on it right now but had 16x7 Enkei's before with 225/40/16 before that.

weight?? as in the rims being way too light, right?







i think 7 is the max width you can run on the back. my suggestions is to talk to j9, call centerline to see what ppl have bought for you car or find out the offset of the wheels you previously had on the car.

previous wheels have been 16x7, 15x7, 14x6, and presently 15x6, there is always an inch and a half space maybe 2 inches of room on the inner side between the car and the wheel so been thinking I should go to 15x8 but have no idea what offsett to use to equal that out and be able to keep the wheel and tire in the wheelwell. previous wheels have all been either 38mm or 40mm offset which I have no idea what that equals to in inches and Welds are measured in inches. ......................make sense?

I know I got the pic of cardomain, but not sure of his engine setup, I emailed the guy asking him about wheels specs but got no reply. I want to stick to 15's but want to know what width/offset and size tires to go with. I

tried some off a mustang and the offset was not right so the wheels stuck out about 2 inches and on the mustang they looked perfect, the owner bought the car like that and couldnt tell me any info about the wheels. I've been told a few times that if I were to get skinny's in the front and corner hard that I'll either keep going straight or bend the wheels in half.............any truth in that?
