I want to upgrade the disks in my s3 84 (similar to GSL-SE) and because I know **** all about brakes (at the mo anyway) I was wondering if anyone had done it or thought it was worthwhile. Will stock brakes be good enough to handle a ~300RWHP car (thats what I'm aiming for anyway), or should I be looking at bigger disks?

What do you all reckon?

Are rotors easy to change? (I would imagine they're not but as mentioned earlier I dont know ****, yet.)

As long as you have a 4 wheel disc setup you should be good to roll.Just use new pads and rotors.You shouldn't need to worry about them.Hows the rust removal coming?

I've upgraded mine to 2nd Gen brakes on the front. What a difference. I can abuse the hell out of them on the track and there's never any fade.

hehe yeah rust.

Well, I'm doing a welding course at tafe to learn some mig and tig, but till that gets underway, I've been using the old "rust buster" spray (phosphoric acid) all over the hard to get places, to turn the rust back into metal. Then I've been galv spraying the metal.

Later I'll primer that before the paint goes on, but thats later down the track.

I've only had Sundays to do work on it as I've been working 6 days a week at my various jobs.



So anyway, back to the brakes, do you think I should just keep the rotors and change the pads to performance ones? Or change the rotors as well? I like the look of slotted rotors, but if the stock rotors will do the job, I'll leave em on.

I heard FC brakes on the front work.Are they the 4 or 5 lug setup?Was it a easy swap.I heard the rear with some modding works but its not worth the time.
