ugh.. ok.. first of all my fuel pump, since i bought the car, made an annoying ticking sound, i think it's on it's way out, whats your opinion? Also today i found one of the typical type clips that are littered on various lines in my car... on my shed floor.. me being the silly prick i am passed it by and went driving.. my car is now sluggish, and just has some serious loss of power.. it has lost it's zing.. i was thinking maybe a vacum line? or something more serious.. excuse my lack of knowledge thanks.

Sounds like you need to trace out your lines and see if theres any kinks in them.If there a clip missing it might have been there to hold up a line or hold it tight.Check all your connections too.It shouldn't take that long.Yeah your pump might be giving you early signs that she's about to die.I say just run it till it dies then replace it.You never know how much life is left in it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Mine makes a humming on my 83 when the ignition is on too.If it doesn't then theres one problem that needs to be fixed.

Fuel pumps are pretty easy to change, they are located under the rear of the car near your fuel tank. (where your fuel-filter is meant to be). We can change that in 5 minutes. With your hose problem, what type of clip was it? A hold the hose in place on the car clip or a hold a hose onto a metal/plastic pipe thingy circlip type of clip? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I tried to trace the lines but i was unable to find anything, and drifter, i'll show you. it's just like a little circular type metal clip, that you can find through out my engine bay, is there anything else that can cause significant loss of power? also, the fuel pump doesn't make a humming sound, it makes a constant ticking sound that you can hear even when the engine is running, "tick tick tick tick" in quite a fast fashion. i think i'll carry a spare fuel pump around untill it dies. i'd hate to get stranded :P

Is it an older diaphragm type pump? Or motor type pump? The older diaph. type

uses an electro-magnet to overcome spring pressure to draw fuel through a

check valve. then the spring pressure pushes the fuel through another check

valve. After the fuel is pushed out, the electrical contacts touch and the magnet is

energized again. (Click, click, click) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/mellow.png

I'm not sure.. I'll have a look.

Yeah, that circular metal clip is a hose holding onto something type of clip, sounds liek one of your hoses has popped off from somewhere, I'll take a look for you on the weekend. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
