Ok, so some of you might recall that I picked up an '84 GS from a friend of mine. I just sold my '95 eclipse to fund this project and I have a goal. I want to run this car down the track at NOPI May 20/21 in Budds Creek. The car as it sits right now..is in so/so shape.

Here's what I need to accomplish:

1. Pick up car

2. Start body work(pull minor dents, prep rust spots)

3. Paint Car

4. Order *** load of parts (running holley 650, rb everything else)

5. Build custom cooling system w/ Aluminum rad

6. Install cage and seat

7. Build bridgeport out of donor motor (this may involve tearing down the stock motor for better parts if donor motor has junk housings, etc)

7. any other little stuff.

So far, I've got the paint ...my buddy is going to spray the car, i bought him a new leanardo ?? spray gun for his labor..we're not doing anything crazy, just one stage acrylic GM white..

While he's doing body work, i'm installing battery relocation kit, cleaning the engine bay and basically just going through the car. He wants me to get it running before we spray it, but I'm not sure if i can w/ the time i'm pressed for. If i get it running, great..i'll put it around on the stock block..if not, after he sprays it, i'll swap in the new motor.... I think i should have all the body work/paint, interior **** done by May 14th or so. I'll bring the car up to my shop to swap the motor in the week before NOPI weekend. If this project actually gets done in time, NOPI will probably be the first time the car ever sees the track...

Break-in period will be driving my *** off for 24 hours,lol... i'll only have like one day to tune the motor. I know i dont HAVE to get the car done by then, but i like a challenge.. anybody in the area who wants to come watch, by all means do..i'll probably need some help pulling the car off the track when something gives out, lol!

I live down the road from MIR, PM me if you are going to go, I will show up and give my support. I like meeting other rotary enthusiasts, not many are around here.

Ok. Quick update. Had some issues getting the car picked up as my buddy w/ the trailer was finishing stroking it (piston thing) in his shop..he's built a new 383 stroker for his s10.. truck ran 7.80s in the 1/8th before this motor..he'll be at MIR w/ me too probably, anyways... enough about him... the car got stranded at the "rotary farm" where I got it, so we did some demolition while it sat there.

First off, i ran up to the speed shop by home to pick up some goodies. Grabbed a Sparco Sprint seat, new helmet, gloves, etc... just some extra stuff i needed to go racing when this thing gets done. I also run co-drive on rallycross, so i needed some new equip anyways. Got back to the "farm" and went to town on the interior.

To keep in my class, i have to retain the stock dash, and center console. EVERYTHING else came out. The interior was in so/so shape anyways, so no broken hearts there. Here are some pics:

First up is the "sleepy eye look". You can really see some of the damage on the car. It's actually a pretty straight car. The front fenders have surface rust, but i've got replacements for them, i'm ordering the IMSA front bumper and have another hood for it too. The only other bad spot is the rust in the wheel well which will be repaired shortly.
