Cool

Well, I was at a party Friday night, talking to an old friend who has an rx7 (but no license-speeding ) and he was telling me about one of his friends (who I sorta know), they bought their rx7's together, with aspirations of working on them together, etc etc, anyway, turns out that his friend bought a T2 half-cut about 2 months ago for about AUS$2700 for his rx7, but then, a little while later bought a 180SX.

Well, he can't be bothered with his rx, now he's got the 180, and he's got this half-cut thats he's trying to get rid of, so he can fund a stereo for the 180.

Looks like I'm going to get it off him for about AUS$1500. I'm pretty happy, saving myself more than $1k (the going rate here is about $2800 for a T2 half-cut).

Next step is renting a place to store it and work on it. (ie Get off my **** and put in some effort to finishing my project)

All things going to plan, should have it by next weekend.

Also, he's got a whole load of shiny bits(custom piping) he had made for giving it a FMIC instead of the TM, so if they get thrown in the deal (which theres a good chance of), I'll be saving even more cash!

Yup, full half-cut.

Went and looked at it yesterday, (sorry no pics yet)

Looks like the left-hand side got put into a pole or tree or something. Looks soooo good, I'm getting it Saturday. aus$1500.

His also got a FMIC which is 2 T2 topmounts welded together (properly ), custom-made intake and exhaust manifolds as well as all the piping to fit. Thats only costing me an extra aus$500.

So for aus$2000 I'm getting a pretty good deal. I'll get pics as soon as I get it.

Yeah I know, I've gotta get a place to work on it, then I'll be set.

I went over to his place and paid him for the half-cut, he took me out for a spin in his 180sx. Pretty nice, but its got nothing on a rotary turbo. Its got a CA18DET running about 11psi boost.

Tell him to throw an SR20DET into it. That should light a fire under his ***!

Great score on the T2 parts car! Get ahold of your rx7 mates and throw a

"Lets Turbo Drifter's RX-7" party. I figure a Keg of Fosters and some Pizzas

at a friends house and you could be driving it when the weather warms up!

eeeeewwwwwwwwww fosters?? Nobody drinks that ****!

The party sounds like a good idea though...any excuse...

He has no plans to further modify it, he just wants a car that beats v8's but will start in the morning.

In a few years once he has some more money, he'll get another rotary and relive his dreams.

To tell you the truth, theres other reasons for him giving up on his project and selling me the half-cut. His g/f (of 3 years) broke up with him because he spent all his time and money on his rx7 and she got fed up with it. Theres too many bad memories associated with it now for him, so it had to go.

My gain.
