I have an 1985 GSL. I use 10W30 oil. Still using the oil pump - no premix. My question is though, should I use synthetic or non synthetic oil and why?

well its up to you.

pros: synthetic handles heat better, and lubrictates better

cons: it might ruin your rotor oil seal o rings, its expensive

the non turbo rotaries are pretty easy on oil. its the turbos that can really benifit from synthetic, or the turbos benifit more from synthetic.

i find with mine it just doesnt make sense, economically too. mine uses oil, so in 3000miles i'm looking at 8-9qts of oil....

i'd say it depends on the miles of your motor, you need the imperfections in dinosaur oil to help the seals swell to fill voids created by wear. If it's a newer rebuild synthetic is ok.
