Now that Ive got that 12a 6PI running good (real good) Im at a crossroads.

I was originally planing on building a Daily Driving Curve Monster, But now that Ive Taken it out a few times and have felt the torque of this engine, Im not sure if I wouldnt like a 1/4 Miler'. I mean this car really takes off. And Im a fairly quick shifter, And coming off 7 1/2 rpm, second has even more torque! I found myself worrying about my axle this evening. The front end (hood veiw) moves about three or four inches upward, the clutch really grabs good. So I really think I could have some fun with some of these little Turbo Pipe Kiddies, Theres alot of them here.(1) But the police are pretty hard on drag racing here, (2)and I really dont need any more drivers privilige problems, ya know? (3) theres no drag course here, only a 1/4 mile dirt track. Bombers and stuff. (4)They do run a 4 cyl class......but its DIRT! (5) Im not going to port this engine unless something blows. I cant find very many of them around and I have plenty of regular 12a engines I can mess with so I dont want to mess this one up.(Ive never ported before) Its going to be my daily driver engine no matter.

On the other hand

I live in Panama City Florida. Its very flat and very hot. The good news is, (1)around the creeks and rivers, there are really long, desolate, curvy roads that are a pretty damn good challenge at higher speeds, or for high speed drift.(2) I havent really gotten into HIGH speed drift yet.

And I think, (3)since there is atleast somekind of 4cyl race here, I might be able to talk someone into putting something together in a road race. Time trials or something. And (4) my father Ocasionally drives my car to Alabama (about 2 hour drive 1 way) because his truck drinks gas worse...well worse than my rx-7.

So what do you guys think, In Short:

DRIFTER OR DRAGSTER???

BTW: If this is anything like a 13b in a first gen Ive got to get one!!!

As you can tell Im pretty happy with my car!

But this decision means different tires, suspension setup, Interior mods, etc. etc. And as most of you know, I wont be able to do both. Big rear tires dont work well on curves and a light suspension, Though great in the curves, wont get you Jack for traction from a stand still.

I personally would set it up for the road. 1st gens can be one of the best handling cars on the road, with a little work. If you're keeping the stock wheels, get some 205/60/13's and that'll help some with the traction. They are a pretty good upgrade off the factory size with no rubbing problem. Or you can splurge and find some 15x7 wheels and 205/50/15 tires for the best setup. As far as suspension, you can look around and find suspension parts relatively inexpensive. Get some decent shocks/springs and polyeurathane(sp?) bushings and you're hooked.

Good luck in whichever you choose.

Im gonna get some 0-60 and 1/4 mi. times this weekend. A friend has a 92 Police Special Im gonna race from a stand still. He wont be able to start as fast as me but we'll see if he can catch me. Probably, but Im still hoping for less than 17 in the 1/4.

Anybody know where the peak torque should be in first gear for a good start off the line? Id Kill to show this guy up!

I want to be able and be fairly good at both: 0-60/1/4 mile and curvy roads.

Cosmos, in the earlier days, and then the Savvanna(I believe) and then one more time between 82-85 in the Cosmos, Luce, and RX-7s of japan. This ones a newer version(82-85).
