Well, you read right. I went back after only one day to pick up my car (which had a blown engine) with a flat bed tow trailer, and it was gone. I called the cops, they came, ran the plates and said it wasnt impounded or towed. So, I filled out a stolen vehicle report, and went back home crying.

All I have to say is that whoever took it better hope the cops find them before I do...

~T.J.

RotorMotorDriver 08-03-2003 08:36 PM

Oh yeah, and could you all look out for any of my parts or even similar parts being sold ANYWHERE? Ebay, The Parts Trader, here, other forums, hell even your local papers...

~T.J.

phinsup 08-03-2003 08:38 PM

Whare are you? That might help a bit.

Sorry to here bro, give us a run down of where it was stolen from and anything that might visually set it apart from other like models.

drifter 08-03-2003 08:42 PM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png Dude, thats fucked up! So whoever took it would have had to tow it?

I really hope you get it back.

Its getting really bad to leave your car on the side of the road these days for some reason. Over here if you leave your car on the road for a day or so, you'll come back to all your windows smashed, the car searched through and the battery and license plates stolen.

drifter 08-03-2003 08:44 PM

yeah, add your location to your profile and put a post in gen discussion detailing what it looks like, mods, etc so everyone in your area can keep a lookout for you.

kettlman 08-03-2003 08:54 PM

first thing i would think of is INSURANCE. but you probably only had liability. good luck. will watch for you.

Who steals a car with a blown engine??? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png Some people are getting really stupid these days.

RotorMotorDriver 08-03-2003 09:32 PM

Yeah, sorry guys, Im in Woodinville Washington. The car was stolen from the Duvall/Monroe area.

Ill get back to you with that parts list...

~T.J.

vipernicus42 08-03-2003 09:38 PM

Remember:

When you recover the car from whatever teenagers took it for a joy ride "They overdrove my engine.. they ******* blew my engine!" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Sorry to hear about that man.. I'd go postal (homicidal) on those fuckers if I ever found 'em. Nobody messes with one of our forum members and gets away with it. Frig man... that absolutely blows.

I wish you the best in recovering her. My Dodge Shadow was stolen twice (if you can believe that) and recoverd both times... first time it was found atop a pile of rocks in a farmer's field... Insurance paid for an entire bumper-to-bumber paint job and the body work to straighten out the dents in the floor. Let's hope they stole it to drive it, or respray and sell it, rather than part it out.

Again, where was it stolen, and what was your VIN? if I see it (as doubtful as that might be) I'll get the cops on those fuckers, then give 'em a piece of my mind... on the end of a lead pipe!

Jon

edit: you answered location as I was posting/beat me to it

WHAT!!! You found someone that will steal a car that won't run?!?! When you find him, post his phone number! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Just kidding, my car was stolen last year. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png Recovered same day, though. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

vipernicus42 08-03-2003 11:32 PM

Yeah... for most of the summer when I would go work on the car I would just leave the doors unlocked. One day mum comes out and says "Chum, you're gonna lock the car up when you're done right"

to which I replied

"Mom... With another 3 thousand dollars and two months of work, *I* couldn't get this car to move. If someone manages to steal it, they deserve it! I mean seriously, first they'd have to plan it out:

Thief one (to Thief two): "Dude, we're gonna steal Jon's car... we need brakes, suspension, a carb, a new gas tank, and a bunch of tools.. yeah.. then we'll sneak in the middle of the night, drag his parent's cars out of the way, do the work, and get the hell outta there!"

Thief two: umm.. okay.. I've got 3g to spare, and I'll bring a lift, we'll need one"

Jon

Suparslinc 08-04-2003 01:20 AM

RotorMotorDriver:

I've followed your posts on the other forum, surprised about your luck. Are you shitting us?

If it was stolen, I would look to someone on the board, like mentioned before. No local guy would know what lies under the hood of that beast https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Where was your car? Was it at a garage or dealership? I would think they would incur some kind of liability for that.

RotorMotorDriver 08-04-2003 01:29 AM

It was on the side of the road cause the engine lost compression on the 1st around mignight. I went back to get it on the 3rd in the afternoon and it was gone.

However, we went on a hunt of sorts for it, and talked to some people fishing at a near by pond. They said they saw two guys working on it from about 2:30 am to 6:30 (brave little fuckers...) and they eventually just used a small red car to tow it away with, similar to a Geo metro.

They obviously had gotten inside somehow because I found a marker that was in my center console outside on the ground, so I assume they just took it outta gear and the brake off from the inside to tow it.

~T.J.

kettlman 08-04-2003 01:36 AM

i'm saying itssomeone that reads this forum, or the other one. how else would they know to work on it. for all they knew it ran out of gas. unless they heard different. and they couldn't be too far from were it was, if they towed it with a geo. good luck.

Jerk_Racer 08-04-2003 01:40 AM

Jesus ******* christ TJ, you've had one helluva bad year. I hope this one turns out okay. Even Blair finally recovered his 1st gen after it "mysteriously" disappeared one night from the dyno tuners shop. Too bad they didn't leave one single thing usable on his car. They even destroyed the frame to spite him. I hope your's turns up much better than that.

Suparslinc 08-04-2003 02:15 AM

Well I don't know what to tell you. If it were me, I would be asking everyone I know. Then I would call the cops every day. Get a detective on the case; they brought one one for my missing cell phone and I told him no big deal; just find someone in law enforcement who will pursue this matter, and do you your own investigation during your free time. Hopefully something will come up.

ioTus 08-04-2003 03:33 AM

i'd be going to any house within 20 miles of the place. taking pictures of things, dropping subtle qeustions, breaking limbs, whatever it took.

if someone were to steal my car, it would be just about as bad as someone stealing my.... well... car.... (its just that my car is like the one material thing i have that i truly dearly love)

you still need to give me a parts list and such. i will be looking out for it here in western wa.

also, license plate and VIN please.

j9fd3s 08-04-2003 10:54 AM

wow, i cant believe anyone would go to all that trouble!?!

your chances of getting it back are decent though, just because its not a very common car #1, and its modded are everyone has seen it #2

mike

vipernicus42 08-04-2003 12:00 PM

If somehow they manage to be people from the forum, we'll hear about it soon enough. They're not going to ever be able to post pics or go to a meet without someone going "hey, I recognize those parts... they look kinda like TJ's stuff... "

If they aren't from the forum (which in my mind is the better possibility), then they'd never have known how to recognize a blown rotor, and that would explain why they spent so many hours working on it. I mean think about it, almost anyone on this forum would pull the plugs *at the very least* to check for spark, or to de-flood it. Either of those require turning the engine, where you'd hear the "whoosh" instead of the "psssss", and we'd immediately give up. These guys were probably backyard mechanics who had never seen a rotary engine.

I'd say he has *three* reasons why his chances of getting it back are decent.

1. It's not a common car

2. Everyone's watching for it now (like mike said, everyone's seen it)

and

3. They aren't driving it very far! I mean they can't exactly tow it out of the city on a geo!

At the very least when it's recovered, get an engine out of your insurance. If not because they "drove the hell out of it" you can tell the truth. You blew an apex seal, but because you pulled immediately over, the engine could be rebuilt. When they were working on it for hours, every time they turned the engine over it put pock-marks in the side of the chamber, making it completely un-reusable. As I said earlier, you can do alot of damage to your chamber by continuing to push on it.

And you shoulda had that marker fingerprinted https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Jon

j9fd3s 08-04-2003 12:25 PM

i was able to recover a bunch of parts that were stolen off my t2

RotorMotorDriver 08-04-2003 12:31 PM

Yeah, they didnt take it far. We were told by some witnesses last night during our rouge "sniper style" investigation (similar to what ioTus described) we're hosting that the people working on it made multiple trips to and from the car taking approx. 15 mins per trip...So that narrows down how far away they went. I also dont think they would try and tow it far with a damn Geo and a locking steering column...

Yeah, I didnt even think about fingerprints until after I had picked it up and was messing with it...Then it kinda hit me...D'oh.

Unfortunatly, I dont have full coverage, just liability, so I wont be getting anything from the insurance company...

~T.J.

The_7 08-04-2003 12:40 PM

dude, you have my sympathy; i know if my car was stolen i would never give up until i found it. i dont think it will last too long because FBs are so rare and could be spotted instantly by one of us. i wonder if they will figure out what they have. doesnt matter, we will all be on the look out...and when we do find them...https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png....

you dont need the insurance company, just when you find them look at your car and if theres damage take it out of their metro (a lug nug from your car would equal an entire metro tho) or just take it out of their faces https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif

p0sta1 08-04-2003 12:47 PM

So all you have to do is drive 15 mintues from where you last parked the car and break into everyone's garage to see if it's sitting around. Or find that ******* geo first and do some "investigating". Just follow them around and when they stop at a light, come up with a baseball bat and smash all their windows in. Then politely ask them where the **** your car is. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

At least you have more of a lead on your car than Blair did. Every day that passes by the chances of recovering anything grows exponentially against you. Watch ebay and the parts trader like a hawk. Blair never got anything back from his car so chances are the parts got sold privately would be good I'd say. Hope you have more luck than he did in getting the car found in 1 total piece. His was in one piece.... just a bent up shell. :(

Oh God *rolls eyes*

Jess, you never should have admitted you're a girl on a forum FULL of guys!

Hehe, we got into this on the other forum once, and came to the conclusion that any girls that *might* have been on the forum either kept quiet to themselves, or would be ravaged by the masses once revealed... Really kinda sucks. Oh well, if you can put up with us, we're glad to finally see a girl actually interested enough in our cars to hang out on a FORUM with us!

As to the guys, give the poor girl a break! She's here to learn about cars and hang out, not to hook up with guys! (though if she is, she won't have a hard time of it from the looks of things).

And TJ had a point... I'd bet most of the guys with g/fs on here would put a pic of their car as a desktop background before they'd put a pic of their significant other up!

RotorMotorDriver 08-05-2003 04:27 AM

Damn I miss my car :(

~T.J.

vipernicus42 08-05-2003 08:48 AM

I hope you don't take offence at this or anything (I don't mean it as such)

but just think.. if you miss your car now, think of how much you'd have missed it if you "parted it out and sold it" as you were thinking of doing at one time (thread on the other forum I think)... See, our cars are unique, beautiful, and hopelessly addictive... I really hope that you get her back in (relatively) good condition and can make it through w/o having to part with it.

As an owner of a FC, I don't normally hit up this side of the house. Long shift last night, clicked the wrong link, and I am sure glad. Bare my questioning... I kinda do this for a living....

what time did you last leave your car, and what time did you find it stolen?

f1ernie 08-05-2003 03:35 PM

It's a real shame to hear your "7" was stolen.I just had my bike stolen a few weeks ago & I caught the thief riding it.I slowly walked up to him & to his surprise,I proceeded to pound my cell phone through the top of his skull. He was lucky i wasn't carrying a real weapon.I got my bike back,he got his licks...I would hate to see what would happen if someone touched my car.GOOD LUCK, don't give up,you'll get it back...F1Ernie https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

I left it at 11:57 PM on Friday night, and discovered it stolen arounf 3 PM on Sunday when I went back to get it. My friends who drive that road saw it at noon on Sunday though, so it was stolen after that during the night.
