Question

i turn key, i hear click, no rotor, no zoom zoom, just a click. checked the connections, think they are ok, but still, just a click.....wtf?

Make sure the connections are good and clean if theres still nothing and the fuses all look good chances are its dead.

no lights do stay on, i hit with a block of wood, if nothing else works, i guess ill take it to autozone and get it tested, ive just thought i heard a lot of ppl talking about the starters on the 1st gens. yet another problem to deal w/.

the reason i was asking is because ive heard some people talk bad about 1st gen starters....but never fear, i fixed it. i dont even want to tell you what was wrong. the connection was bad on the battery.

also try going with a gel battery and maybe relocate it behind the passenger seat. engine bay will look cleaner.
