heya, every so often the speedo needle in my s1 seems to enjoy have a little dance, its normally when the car has just been started or when its cold outside. the needle rises up smoothly but then when you keep the speed steady it jumps up and down and is accompanied by a very odd high pitch whirring noise. the noise isnt particularly loud and can be drained out by turning the stereo up (or opening up the exhaust). does anyone have any idea of a diagnosis of this problem and some sort of a fix??? thanks guys

1st thing I'd try is to remove the speedo cable and clean/relube it. It's probably dry.

There's a threaded coupler on both ends of the cable, one at the tranny and the other at the speedo. It's probably easier to get at the one one on the tranny. Unthread it fron the transmission case, pull the cable out, clean it off and relube it. Put he cable back in and reconnect it. Voila! Done.

Unless you wanna be on the side of the Road like Defprun then i suggest you do =\. Mine used to dance around a bit at around ~60kms but that was probably because i had it in 4th (to save fuel XD)
