Is it safe to cut out the spare tire well, so I can have a larger propane tank? I'm wondering, because I'm trying to be able to have as much room for a propane gas tank as possible.

Easy, take the sucker out then take a sawzall and go to town. Then start making the plate to cover the hole.

Look underneath before you cut! Get a magic marker and a tape measure and draw your cutting line before hand. Cut the hole a little small and trim to fit your new tank. Expect your chassis rigidity to go to hell unless you bolster the sheetmetal.

okay. what gauge sheetmetal should i get, and what should i re-inforce it with? a couple pieces of metal (c-channel, but short channels)? we have some 1/8" or 1/4" thick iron/steel c-channel pieces, and those are strong as hell. would aluminum ones work? (i'm trying to keep the weight of my car down.

Sorry about my other post I did not mean to seem as if I were irrational. I do agree with beater measure twice cut once.

If I were you I would run some small (1/8"-1/4") and running it along the existing floor. The "L'ing" it to drop to your propane tank.

I would not want that bottle near the exhaust. That is just me though.

its not a bottle, its a propane tank. like ones on grills, except the metal is thicker, and it is almost impossible to puncture, so i'm not worried. its just as bad as having a gas tank near your exhaust.
