Short in wiring
#1
So my series 2 has sat for a week and now has a dead flat battery. And I mean zero volts.
Investigating with a multimeter finds a dead short to ground from the Red/White wire coming from the alternator to the ignition switch.
Unplugged the wire from the ig switch and the alternator, so both ends of the wire aren't connected anywhere, still short to ground.
After poking around for a while, following the cable loom around across the front of the car, through the firewall, and up behind the dash, the short has now changed to 7 ohms. Further wiggling doesn't show up anywhere that it might change.
I'm going to just run a fresh wire to replace the offending one, but at a long shot thought I might ask if anyone else has seen this before?
Thanks.
