Short Circuit

Damn I hate shorts. Well, it all started when I blew a fusible link, the car had been sitting a few months and the battery had gone dead so I had to jump it with our van. The car started up but I forgot to take the jumper cables off of the battery when I got distracted with the stereo system. I guess the voltage coming from the alternator and the voltage from the van caused the voltage to get too high and blow one of the fusible links. I replaced the fusible link and it fired right up. I go to take it for test drive and I notice my cluster light would not come on, as well as all my running lights, and the head lights would not go up or down. So I start testing my fuses and one of the 10's are blown. I replace that and try and turn my lights on it blows instantly........anyway what would be the easiest way to test a circuit and find where I'm shorting out.

A multimeter is the best thing to find dead shorts.

Thanks for the help, one of the dash lights had a loose wire that was contacting the frame.
