On my GSL, I did the mechanical secondary mod several months ago, it made a big difference when the barrels kicked in,,,,,but now i can hear the carb open up but i cant feel the power like before,,i havent driven the car in two months because tags expired, but im legal again and took it for a spin yesterday and noticed that when i floored it I heard a small backfire from exhaust and the carb would open up but there was no noticeable acceleration thrust,,,,,i tried several times flooring it while driving thru town and would get the same back fire and no big acceleration,,,,tried new filter, adj a/f still same problem. i dont have a cat conv, and the muffler is not clogged. what could have settled in my carb to cause this or could it be something else to check/clean/replace that went bad from not driving.

Thats the same thing that happen to me when my car went down for the engine swap. It must have something to do with the oil mix. I've never seen a carb gum up so fast. I checked my other carbs and they were worse. I know It sounds strange but since I rebuilt The carb, I take it off and in the house with me if the car is going to be parked more than a week. But then when I was a kid, into BMX, I used to bring my bike in my bedroom after my parents went to sleep and disassemble the better part of it to keep sand from turning my grease into...well sand.

If you leave it parked and you dont want to be as finatical as me, I think you can unhook the Fuel inlet hose and blow the fuel out the return line, fill it with carb cleaner until you get it running again.
