I have a 1983 RX-7, I don't know if its a GS, GSL, or GSL-SE, or anything along those lines. It looks fine, but for some reason the mirrors are on the fenders, instead of the door. Does anyone know why that is? The car has no engine, and my dad's thinking of turning it electric, since we dont have to put any work into pulling the engine out, since its not there, but I want to put a newer/rebuilt engine in. I dont really like electric cars, because they're slow, and they have no sound (which is part of the 7's personality).



About how much would it cost for us to re-build a 12A? we have 3 in the garage, 2 of which are in pieces, and the rear housing, and center/rear plates are shot. The housing is gashed, and the plates are rusted, and the rear rotors in the 2 engines we pulled out were pitted pretty badly, and those were the ones that froze. We're looking at rebuilding them ourselves, if it isn't too much of a pain, and doesn't cost more to have it professionally done. If we get it professionally done, do the engines have to be put together, or can we just bring it to them in pieces?



I'll post more, once I remember more, and get home from school, because I'll know more then.

Are you sure that it is not a SA? Someone might have just put the mirrors there...

i know its not an SA for 2 reasons. 1: it has the FB back end. 2: The title says is a 1983. i haven't looked at it (the title, and the car) since we bought it, which was about 5+ months ago and it doesn't have the tags on the car telling if it was GS,GSL, or GSL-SE.

What engine does it have in it? What lug pattern? Most likely the previous owner just put the mirrors in that location to mimick the early SA's.

no engine. i dont know what lug pattern. It has FB wheels, though.
