I'm rebuilding '85 GSL front calipers as we speak. The question is about the 2 types of grease(orange and red) the FSM specifies to apply near the top of the piston bore. The rebuild kit I received didn't come with these greases. I was wondering what kind they are, can I use a different type, and if I have to use the specified orange and red types, were can I get them without buying another rebuild kit?

Thanks for your time,

David

I think that the normal greas might make the caliper seals swell and it my make the rubber soft and weak. Plus it will burn up under high heat.

If any thing besides the "recommened grease" I would use synthetic caliper grease witch can be purchesed at most auto parts stores.. It wont absorb into the rubber and wont burn up at high heats that disc brake calipers create...
