Im looking for the specific differences between the GSL rear end with disc brakes, and the GSL-SE rear end. The bolt pattern is different, so the axles are different. Are they interchangable though? There was a change in the diameter/spline count of the axles for 1984. Are the axles interchangable with the corresponding differential?

Yes the axles will interchange.....you will need the repsective calipers and brackets for what axle you intend to use....

I converted a GSL diff to GSL-SE using the GSL-SE axles, the rear backing plates(caliper brackets), rear calipers and rotors. I used an 84 GSL housing and 85 GSL-SE axles..the rest of the stuff was purchased new....

yep....just slightly bigger, the brakes I mean. the axles are pretty much the same except for the obvious bolt pattern difference, and a different shape to the rotor mating surface.....

That's why I switched mine out to get away from 4x110! My GSL had posi and SE had posi just wanted the 114 bolt pattern to have a better selection of wheels to chose from.

Pretty much the stuff just in reverse...but like that dude said....why? 4X110 is the devil....and lug bolts suck. The screw in studs are junk.
