Just recently, I bought (to my utter excitement, as I have wanted this particular model for about 5 years now) an 85' gsl; not the turbo model, however it does, of course, have the 13b in it. I am not heavy into modifications, mostly due to the fact that my wallet has its vicegrip around my neck. However, I've been researching a great deal, and in that research, I'd like to ask around here (because obviously, most of you know a great deal more than I :-P) a few questions concerning modifications:

-What improvements, in your opinion(s), would give a hp increase along with an increase (or at the very least, no decrease) in reliability?

-If I am ever to have the money to make such a mod, would turbo-charging the engine be truly worth it, or would it probably cause more damage than good?

I suppose that's about it, in all honesty. I'm hopeful that I won't get flamed too bad :-P being an uneducated n00b is no fun.

Possibly something like a safc or equivalent, to allow you to tune your car, giving better mpg also better power thru the rev range.

get an exhaust if you already dont have one, donno how much money u are willign to spend, but a streetable header and the rest of the exhaust will do the car some good. something like racing beat.

There's a bunch of stuff you can do for almost free. Make a cold air box for the intake, take off all the emissions bullshit, throttle body mod, take out the cold start stuff and the thermostat, DLIDFS the ignition, take out the power steering and AC, relocate the battery to behind the passenger seat, get a front strut tower brace (huge diff in handling). Check out the tutorials on iluvmyrx7.com...there's some really good ideas in there. Making a fast NA for cheap is all about power to weight, so do away with everything that you can spare (spare tire, subwoofer boxes, etc). Once you get some loot, an exhaust, which you will end up spending some money on is DEFINITELY the way to go. It goes without saying that keeping the car tuned well is huge also...and something that you can do yourself if you spend some time learning about it. Good luck and welcome!!! Always nice to see new people excited about an FB!

The single best thing you can do is a good full exhaust including header. Get a good rotary-specific setup from Racing Beat or similar.
