took a couple pics, thought id share https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

this months project is going to look suspiciously like an intake manifold

TYSON 02-11-2009 03:54 PM

perhaps some bead blasting and high temp ceramic coating could make the list too!

amp 02-11-2009 06:06 PM

clean shortblock and tranny.... nice

rotor_king 02-16-2009 12:45 PM

Holy peripheral port batman!

j9fd3s 02-16-2009 01:28 PM

engine and trans are new... i changed my mind about painting the car.... it might just stay black

dj55b 03-09-2009 12:07 AM

looking good

j9fd3s 03-09-2009 02:25 PM

a little progress has been made.

i'm a lot closer on the wiring, i just need to put the grounds in. wrapping will happen later, i like to make sure it works first.

we made flanges for the carb, it gets welded up in the next week or so

paul built me a set of K2 camber plates so i can get rid of the ground controls, although i did spend an afternoon aligning it already... oh well

what else? new upper hose is on the way, so i can put coolant in it.

brakes are in, clutch is in....

need to readjust the steering box, somehow i got more effort AND more play

I'm surprised you haven't forket out some money for that rack and pinion kit yet ... any reasons? besides maybe just price of it?

j9fd3s 03-10-2009 03:17 PM

i wanna stay "vintage correct" like if mazda offered a sports kit in 1982. plus if you do it right (ive been there, just missed this time) you can actually get most of the play out of the box

defprun 03-22-2009 09:31 AM

I'm siding with Tyson in changing the header from 1764 vintage to something a tad more cleaner/modern https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

defprun 03-23-2009 06:10 AM

Oh your getting a new one how fantastic! Wacha gettin' there mike?

dj55b 03-23-2009 11:43 AM

you might be able to get it tighter but you can't get a quicker ratio :P ... I still respect you for trying to keep it "vintage" ... cough "cheaper" cough lol jk

its personal preference but i actually like the stock ratio, especially on a roadcourse. you turn wheel 60-90 degrees, and steer with your right foot https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

I thought you threw quiet out the window when you chose to PEEP.

yeah, i'd like to be able to street it a little though

defprun 03-23-2009 06:50 PM

What's legal noise levels in your commie neighbourhood? Anything above lawnmower noise is deemed too loud?

it depends, if you're a harley, louder is better. if its an s13/s14 they will pull you over and pop the hood, just to check.

so i dunno, in theory we have a 92db limit? but in reality its whatever the cop decides, if he's wrong you can go to the ref, and they measure it, and then court, but that is more expensive than the ticket.

so either way its a loose

Not going to happen.Gotta love the rotary.lol My truck is living proof with a stock port setup.

Nateb123 03-30-2009 04:25 PM

Agreed. With a turbo you could get a lot of power with minimal noise, but PP? Forget about it. Might as well have done a bridge and shot for an even idle.

j9fd3s 03-30-2009 05:20 PM

yeah we'll see i guess.

defprun 03-31-2009 06:24 AM

You're an outstanding citizen im sure they wont mind a little noise!

j9fd3s 03-31-2009 12:40 PM

i hope not, they get noise when this starts weather they want it or not!

BTW you guys are making me feel bad i havent touched peepers in a while

Nateb123 03-31-2009 02:51 PM

You know that people who touch their peepers go to hell, right?
