Paint And Trim

im gonna get a temporary cheep macco paintjob for now to take car of all the faded spots and rust. now the trim that runs down the sides, if i pop that off is there gonna be holes or what, what do i need to do to make it look smooth?

do you mean the rubber stuff? nah that stuff is glued on. just make sure you get all of the adhesive off.

Yeah, only the side indicators have holes. and some badges (hatch)

if its just temporary, i would rattle can it. it might not look good as maaco, but it'll definatly last longer. i've done a few successful rattle can job that come out even and good looking, most people can't tell its not real paint once you put a clear on it.

All the badges on the car have mounting holes.I gotta decide whether or not to go badgeless and trimless this time or not.My 83 does look good totally smooth on the side tho.

i just took a closer look the other day and i noticed that theres goove that runs down the side right about the trim. so would i be better off banging it out or filling it in?

best thins would be to cut the groove out and seal it back up with sheet metal.

That goove looks good with everything gone.I should know.I have it done.I was going to fill it too but whats the point when its just that much more work for not that great of a difference.
