Oil Leak Onto Manifold
Hey I just purchased a 85 gsl yesterday and i noticed and was told before i bought the car that it will smoke somewhat often after you park it and are done driving, i am just curious--as the car is 100% stock-- where would an oil drip be coming off the manifold or carb and dripping onto the exhaust manifold.
any ideas on where to look would be great since i don't have a ton of time everyday to rip it apart and check everything out on her.
Appriciated,
Matt.
and i will post pics of this little beauty once i am not being so lazy, by the way this is NODE's old car. we got him all mesed up and bought it. good times.

Id start with the front cover gasket and the oil metering pump first, take you some simple green degreaser and clean that baby up, let it run and see where its coming from. Most like likely the OMP since its the closest to the manifold and carries oil.

How old is the engine? If oil is pooling near the Mazda logo on the top driver's side of the engine it is likely coming from the dowel pin seals. Washing the engine regularly will help reduce this a bit.
edit: I re-read your question. Are you certain oil is hitting the exhaust? If so, check the oil metering lines where the enter the carb. My original suggestion was just for pooling oil "smouldering" on the engine block itself. This may only noticable when the engine is off and the fan isn't blowing the smoke away.
