I've got the same problem, but my compression is good. I'm thinking that it's either a clogged (or starting to clog) cat or a carburator problem like clogged jet, plugged fuel filter or else the secondaries are not opening. My idle is also a bit rough and i've got a small back fire when I shift. I will respost when I've figured it out.

Good luck to both of us.

i'd start with checking the igntion system ( coils, distributor, cap, etc) then your pump and fuel filter

Did you check the compression 84rx7? A bad apex seal will cause the engine to have little power under load, but still be able to rev in nuetral. You will also have a rough idle if the engine can even keep one.

that's happened to me last year.after too much searching i found that it caused by bad spark plugs.try to replace them.that was saved me.please let me now if it helped you.

you also may have a flooded motor, then you have to try the ATF treatment.

If it's the cat they will usually give off a nice red glow, just check it when it's dark out!
