Not sure if this needs to go in the running gear section or not? Anyhow, I just got an '83 and it has really neat brakes. You hit the brake pedal and it goes to the floor. If you jab them the second time it stops you right away. When you hold the pedal it has pressure for a little bit then goes to the floor. I bled the brakes but just fluid came out and I have a good vacuum. I was suspecting that I had a leak somewhere in the line but I haven't lost any fluid for about a month. I really don't want to replace the whole master cylinder if I don't have to but anybody got any ideas?

i would tend to agree with the master cylinder theory.

i had a similar problem and it had absolutely nothing to do with the cylinder. one of my calipers wasnt opening back up all the way, so too much stop and go and the fluid would just boil and no more brakes
