If you want that money to make you faster, the best results by far will come if you spend it at a driving school. Unless you're just looking for bragging rights.

**** you're one step ahead of me at least you have a limited slip rear end! Use that 400 to tune it up, maybe put some decent tires on it. Get the car driveable first before you try to make it fast, I know my 85 needed some work before I even thought about tryin to make it fast so I imagine yours will probably need the same. If thats not what you want to do with it than save it and turbo that 12A, it will cost ya some money but thats the way Im headed. Nothin better than a turbo SA or FB

well if all youre looking for is a few extra horses (regardless of if you want them for actual speed or just some bragging rights) i'd check out this Racing Beat exhaust. here go to high-perf exhaust, and the first 82 one on there. You're not gonna get it for under $400, but its a decent horsepower boost. besides, if its all about bragging rights, it'll make your car louder.

If you have to stay emission friendly, start with a Bonez high flow cat (RX7.com), many out there but these are all stainless steel and wont come out the tailpipe after 3 months use, gets rid of the 3 stock cats and you replace it with one. Saves weight, engine breathes better, and about 250. If not worried about emmission you could go for a header & straight pipe removing the rats nest and smog pump, but youll need the block of plates for that which Racing Beat sells also. You could probably find the cat on ebay or The partstrader or on our forums parts section for less. Hit your local wrecking yards for a 2nd gen aluminum jack and tire iron for a small weight saving and probably only 10 bucks or so. If the a/c dont work and you dont plan on fixing it remove it along with all the under dash components and front radiator for a bigger weight savings and one less belt for your engine to have to turn. Less weight and freed up some hp's. Look into the underdrive pulleys from Racing beat.com roughly 75 bucks, free up a bit more hp's. If not worried about the heater, bypass it and remove the heater core and underdash vents. Tune the baby up, NGK wires and plugs would be the best for it. And last longer than the cheaper versions out there. Just some suggestions from one budget minded rotor-head to another.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think you mean the AC condenser, not the front radiator. Getting rid of your radiator wouldnt be a good idea....

Otherwise sounds like good advice, might use some of those ideas myself.

You wanna shut him up? Throw some decent rubber underneath that car and tighten up any worn out suspension bushings you have, you can get poly replacements. Take him out to some curvy road and stretch a few car lengths on him. My car is not all that fast but try and take me down in the curves and its not gonna happen, our cars handle EXTREMELY well for a stock setup. You're probably not gonna change his mind even if you DO beat him, most ricers have it set in the head that if they make 65000 body kits for a econo box it MUST be fast. At least you got a GSL, that limited slip is good for hard launches.
