Someone put some effort into making it look that nice, possibly a rebuild?

Yeah the guy that sold it to me said it was a performance carb and it only had 500 miles on it. Does Mazda rebuild carbs?

Could have converted it to mechanical secondaries, thus the hesitation.

My buddy had mech. secondaries mod, and i noticed a lag around 1500 to 3000 or something, then it would jump forward and scream...

If I rev it in neutral, like not to the floor but close, it will just die after about 1500-2000rpm.

The guy I bought it from hadn't "tuned" the carb or whatever, so my dad I was adjusting something on it to try to fix the problem. Needless to say, we haven't gotten anywhere because neither one of us knows anything about carbs.

Either its rigged for mechanical secondaries, the accelerator pump is out of adjustment, or the tool who rebuilt/moded it didnt know what he was doing and messed something up. Check the first two I mentioned and get back to me. www.pbandjracing.com theres a how to on adjusting the accel pump.
