I already have a custom (crappy) exhaust on my rx7 which consists of header, glasspack, and super ugly cheap muffler. I was thinking of ripping everything out, and running it from the header, through a high-flow baffled muffler in the middle, and then a rice cannon on the back (but only 2.5-3" tip, nothing huge). I'm curious how that would sound. Probably WAY better than the weed whacker on crack sound i'm getting now. I'm looking for a really low deep rumble.

Rotaries cannot get a low deep rumble. that is what big blocks sound like.

you shouold be proud of the sound of your rotary, a true performance engine, it has its characteristic "weed whacker" sound, its music to my ears.

well, when my engine was running, yes i had the racing beat dual long primary exhaust.

its prolly as close to what you're looking for as you can get. plus, sounds VERY agressive, yet not loud. figure that one out??

Mine has a reasonably deep throaty kinda noise. It's also quite loud.

For a very nice sound try a 'RotorFlow' which is made in Adelaide in South Austalia, and is designed particularly for rotors. It's a barrel style muffler, with an not quite straight through design.

You can get 'em from www.horsepowerinabox.com

I haven't tried one yet, but will be installing one in the not too distant furture, to try to lower my cars volume a little.

My rx2 has a header, racing beat presilencer, and an Apex-i muffler(cannon style),

deep sound, a little loud, and since it's all straight through, lots o flames

S2 13BT - Keep us posted on that exhaust when you get it in. I've been looking for a quiet on the low end but strong on the high end exhaust. I cannot stand "weed whacker" or "fart-pipe" sounding exhausts. Right now my car has a nice low sound and I love it, but I'd like to amplify it a bit. But that comes AFTER i tweak it into an ***-kicking 7, right now it's more like a geo metro

I'm not looking for the low 'V8' sound, just something a little smoother and lower tone. Anyways... I've pretty much already figured out what i'm going to do after talking to another rx7 guy.

On my project GSL-SE, I have headers, a Bonex hi-flow cat, then straight to a single cannon out the back (3" tip) and it sounds alright, its not too loud or raspy.
