Thumbs up

I didn't want to hijack my own thread regarding the float bowl gasket.. that is an entirely different issue.

The car has been sitting for about 5 months after dealing with carbon lock, and it refuses to produce full power. Compression is good, etc., etc. I noticed the new rear plugs were fouling, but the front ones were completely unchanged, yet they checked out fine for spark. Reproduced problem with a second set of plugs, cap, and wires.

Okay, on to fuel. My carb has never been touched, so I had no reason to believe it would be responsible for my engine suddenly feeling like it was running on one rotor after curing my carbon lock. Perhaps I should have checked this first, as I noticed both fuel windows on the carb were EMPTY.

I took my carb apart to check the floats, and jumped for joy finally having a concrete reason for my car's complete lack of power. The front bowl had a thick, nasty grey sludge covering the bottom! The rear bowl was fairly clean, with the exception of a small amount of sediment (see photos). My fuel appears blue in colour because I'm running a very strong premix solution in this tank of gas (Castrol Synthetic Outboard 2-stroke oil is blue and smells like Play-doh).

I've cleaned everything up, adjusted my floats, and all set to put it back together (without the gasket for now) to see if the bowls fill up properly. Now I've got myself second-guessing if I've forgotten some pieces.. or if they were always missing.

Are these parts mirrored on both sides of the carb, or it supposed to be like this???

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Even a link to a decent carb diagram!

If at once you fail, try try again until it breaks.
