Are manual transmissions from a 13b able to link up with a 12a? Or is it just not possible. I remember reading on some miata forum that they mated a TII tranny to the miatas engine so I was thinking that it could hook up to the 12a. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it's something to consider if it's possible (Looking to turn my automatic into stick). Any help would be great. Thank you.

anything is posible, i personaly took a 83 12a gear box and mated it to my 89 13b mostly because the 1-3 gear ratio was optimal for my set up at the time and a little bit because i was bored and want to do something. i did change the bell housing and tail stock from the 83 box with the 89 box to get the proper shifter location. now when your talking a t2 box to a 12a. the bolt pattern is the same so it will bolt up however the starter is flipped around slightly and is not the same as a naturally asperated from the turbo so that will have play a factor. also you will need to make a trans mount and you will need to make a drive shaft and get a turbo flywheel.

if your 12a is an auto trans use the rear couter weight with an aftermarket flywheel for a turbo 2, ie 12a weight t2 flywheel and clutch. if you want to run a stock flywheel you will have to have the motor balanced for the stock turbo 2 flywheel as it has a differnt counter weight casted into it.

Ok thank you man. Any workable transmission would be fine I was just looking at my options and wondering on the mods. I found a trans for a 12a but the condition of it is not known and idk if I would be able to find parts for it anymore if it was broken or messed up in some way.

wont that cause crazy vibrations? I've bought motors before not knowing but it was a 84-85 assembly with a 79 fly wheel and it vibrated crazy. Or does this work cause its an aftermarket fly its lighter right? lighter assemblies dont make as much tourque I thought.
