In my search for performance parts for my 1st gen, I've never found a light weight driveshaft. Do they even exist? 'Cause I'm in dire need of a new driveshaft and rather than spending 300 on a stock shaft, why not replace it with a nice lightweight one instead? Will it throw off the near 50/50 weight distribution much? Pros and Cons needed Anyone know of a place I can pick on up? Is there any risk on having one fabricated at a local shop?

Thanks in advance,

Jessica

i don't think it would throw off the weight balance to much considering its in between both axles. i think go for the local shop if you get good feedback from locals who've dealt with them before.

you can get one made. the companies name escapes me right now. i think all they need is the yokes, u joints and the measurement.

Alright, I talked to another 1st gen owner that said this place in West Melbourne could hook me up. Dunno what the name of it is, but apparently they deal only in rotarys and are fans of the 1st gen.

The car's running fine except its not able to get into gear quickly, but that's another topic altogether. The good news is I'll be able to switch out that tranny for a standard, but the bad news is I don't have any money to do the swap. *shrug*
