syphon, on a US model, if you change from a auto flywheel to a manual flywheel you must also change the balance weight behind the front cover. they are different!

 

If you look at his pic..that is not a US version..This thread says Jap 12a 6 port

 

actually thats on all models.

 

 

sorry. changing the front counter balance when going from auto to 5 sp or vice versa.

So I just have to change the flywheel counterweight, as the flywheel weights will differ from automatic to manual.

Also, where can I find a decent clutch for the motor (I don't want to re-use the one I have). I was thinking centerforce I or II.

 

use an ACT they're reasonably cheap and have a good track record

I just discovered that my 81-rx7 got also a 12a 6-port.the previous owner has fitted it on the car but he made it work as a 4-port.the engine came from a 1984 cosmo HB and mazda used to call it 12a\spi.if you gonna make it work properly as a 6-port it produces 130hp(all stock).
