Thanks

wow dude, harsh. I did that "go look at a local dealer" five seperate times in fact and guess what? no rims, and three weekends of wasted gas and time. Oh and those custom rims i could have made? $500 a rim. ouch....

fc3sboy1 02-18-2007 12:57 AM

got to pay to play myfreind pay to play

84RX_Se7en 02-18-2007 01:36 AM

Yea, way too harsh man.

I do see the point though as those stores have access to catalogues and the like where they can order rims they may not have in stock that the few decent commercial websites won't order just for you. Too many middle men for them to order for you and then ship them to you. You're stuck to their selection. If it's a good tuner shop though they will have loads of different sources for wheels and will be able to order some factory direct from a manufacturer if they have them. That or you can buy wheels and have them filled and re-drilled. That would cost an arm and a leg though too..

Now are you looking for 4x110 or 4x114.3? If it's the later then you're in luck. That's not hard to find. If it's the non GSLSE models you're looking at the 4x110 which will require either adapters or searching high and low for the few wheels that fit that pattern.

Blackdragon automotive has knock off Panasport 8spokes for 4x110.

RotaryVillain 02-18-2007 05:12 AM

check www.rhdjapan.com they have a few sets that fit.

you should do a search for "drift tuning companies" the 4x110 pattern rims can be found quite often on drift sites because people start out sometime using old ae86 or rx7 for drifting and ae86 has the same pattern i think.

good luck with your search.

I didn't come here to make enemies bro but you went too far! You may live in an urban setting or a town where auto accessories are plentiful...I do not...I've raced motocross for over 16 years so that's where I spend my time and that's why I live 20 miles out of town on 5acres in the 360,000 acre national forest, so I can ride/practice! It must be easy for you to go to town w/your polo sweater tied around your ass, smoking your ******* cigarette through your fancy cigarette extender sos not to burn yourself so you can walk around all the tire/custom shops in town, this is stupid you pole-smoker, you said it yourself, just look at what you wrote, you said "the local shops are charging an arm and a leg" YEAH SO THAT's WHERE I'LL GO, YEAH TO A LOCAL OVERCHARGING WHEEL SHOP...You know what this is the only reason I hate the internet because you can't **** someone up when they bust off at the mouth, I'm a newbie here but that doesn't mean you can talk to me like I'm a piece of ****, you obviously have some issues and you have alot of growing up to do little boy.

Oh lets see if ANYONE thinks this is STUPID, check it out; A person goes on the internet(the WORLD wide web)looking for some wheels for his RX7 and joins a forum relating to RX7's so he can ask some non-bias people where to look for some good custom wheels, all while thinking that if you ask some peeps w/experience it might save him time and money...

But now I see what I should've done...I should've got in my truck, drove 50 miles to Orlando and looked around, maybe talk to the SALESMAN and see if they might convince me to pay too much. It's kind of funny how a dude sitting on HIS ass on the internet finds the balls to tell me to get off MY ass, get OFF the internet and look around a little...what a hypocrite...I just need some ******* wheels *******!

Bro you're a dick! No seriously bro you are a dick, Seriously! you need to get back on your meds, you're starting to slip back to being a narrow minded dumbass. Hey, and get a clue the industrial age is over! It's all internet now BIOTCH!

If someone knows where they may be a selection of wheels for my application that I may look at and then possibly purchase could you find it in you heart to direct me, possibly give me a link, pretty, pretty please? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/bowdown.gif

There's a thread called "can't find rims" thats like, 6 threads down the first gen page. Just look. All questions will be answered. coulda looked a little first... But whateves.

And FC3sboy1... You obviously have never owned a first gen non-SE car. Rims are about as hard to find locally as head gaskets for my 12A. 4x110 is not going to be mentioned in any tuner shops and any stupid honda boy working the counter isn't going to know where to find anything for you...

Yeah I got the measly GS model w/ drums. I guess that's the 4x110. I found a gsl rear end w/disks but haven't inquired on compatability to the gs...compatability of drive shaft, sway bars, struts, mounts, ect... I'm scared to ask about that now, I might be directed to my local auto mechanics shop to ask some of the paid help for advice.

Yeah as I signed on this morning and came to this forum the first thing I seen was "can't find rims". As a vet member to some MX racing and quad forums I know about the "use the search feature first and then ask" and about reviewing other threads first but I guess I get an "F" on attention span today/yesterday.

It should bolt right in. I know the '83 models had slightly different joints at the driveshafts and were a little smaller but still fit in the stock bolt points and then in '84 or '85 they made the rear axle and diff bigger. They also dropped the mount points of the sway bar like 20mm to allow for better traction.

Either way if you have a GS with drums and have a GSL LSD rear with discs you can bolt it in. It'll just take a little work otherwise to make sure everything works.

I don't have the gsl rear-end but i know where one is at...I just didn't really look/measure anything or otherwise purchase it because I wanted to be sure it would work first. Thanks for the info, that is a relief to know that it will fit.

I went to "cant find wheels" thread and went to that e-bay link and those freakin wheels are awesome, but sadly rare.

Yea, those are definately nice wheels. I wanted some for my GSL but my GSL didn't last long enough to go that far. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Fibremaz over at RX7Club.com uses wheel adapters to change bolt patterns to the more common 4x114.3 which is on the GSL-SE. Much more of a selection in wheels. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Hmm. I've heard/read about these adapters...Can you try to answer me one thing though?

It seems if you put wheel adapters(being 3/4"-1" or more thick)wouldn't a typical 4x114 custom wheel/tire want to rub your fenders? I mean that would make the wheel/tire stick out that much more...and I'm only concerned about this because there seems to be very little tolerance or clearance already on the RX7?

I did go to panasport but it seems that they only have the 8 spoke (or similar)type wheels like miata wheels or something? I'm thinking about doing the wheel adapter thing opposed to changing my rear-end (since it will just be a cruiser anyway, not a racer). Although Panasport did have some decent racing wheels...I wonder why they say for racing only, not for highway use...if it's good enough to haul ass in a race seems like it would be ok for the hwy, teehee.

From what I've seen people have fit 8" wide wheels and tires in the wheel wells. Especially if you are in the 13-14" realm. Now people have used fender flare rollers to give some more room or if you are good with body work you can take VW Cabrio fender flares for the front and rear and mold them on. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

No the internet is not the **** it is what it is...it has definately put some store-front owners in the poor house and it's definately not a one on one basis as far as dealing in person but it is what it is; "Easier for the consumer, harder for the store-front owner" because they can't compete w/internet price(in most cases not all). That'a why my new motocross T-shirt, hooded sweatshirt, visor caps, ect will be marketed and sold on the internet...I'm 34 and the good old days are over and it sucks but it's all good.

Well I'm back from town, went to autozone for some parts...I'm really suprised at the parts that they no longer carry for the RX7...no carb rebuild kits. They have to order rad hoses, water pumps, distributor, coils, and can't even get/don't carry alot of stuff like trans modulator, plugs(other than "Denso")...the carb rebuild kit is what really torqued me up.

I'll do a search on BBS.

There's a user by the name of jose13b on here, I'm trying to find out where he got his wheels, they ROCK!

If I end up using the adapter plates to get to the 4x114 do you think when I order the wheels that they will give me an option for offset because if so that would definately eliminate any fender rub?

You guys gotta forgive me, I can rebuild a 2 or 4 stroke dirtbike engine in the dark but the RX7 complexity is really kicking my ass!

BigMotoXer 02-18-2007 06:00 PM

Does anyone know where I can go to get a good affordable carb rebuild kit including accelerater pump and possibly jets?

fc3sboy1 02-18-2007 06:23 PM

autozone kinda blows in the fact that they dont even carry or able to even order ngk plugs errrrrr. as far as the carb rebuild kit . i think the only place to get that is the dealer or maybe mazdarix.com

Now as far as Denso plugs they are good. Nippondenso makes a lot of good electrical. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

If you are going to rebiuld the carb, think about changing to something better. A rebiuld kit is like 330.00 where a weber is 450.00 new from Pineapple racing here in the NW. Just a thought

BigMotoXer 02-18-2007 07:42 PM

ok I just found the kit I need..it is $68 cool.

I figured since it a GS model(72,000 original miles) that I just want to put a good exhaust(nothing crazy, not racing or anything), air filter(K&N), and some sweet wheels/tires, get it painted and put all new window/door seals(interior is like new except driver door vinyle)...oh and put my stereo system in it(Valor 7" DVD/CD, 600 w Hi-Fonics amp, Matts 10" subs, ect. and that's about it. I want the car to be really close to stock and reliable(my daughter will be driving it off and on in May when she gets here license). Plus it's Auto tranny.

I on the other hand have my eye on a GSl w/LSD...I want the 1.3 instead of the 1.1 and the MT instead of AT and my car will be getting tricked out that's why I'm trying to hurry up and get done w/this one. I jsy got my hands on $10,000 from selling my motocross toyhauler so, IT IS ON!

BigMotoXer 02-18-2007 07:51 PM

Still trying to get jose13b to PM me back to let me know where he got his wheels.

And I'm still trying to find a good exhaust system, I would also like to do away w/airpump and cats in the process but I'm scared it's not gonna be as easy as it sounds...I know i need a block-off plate for something but after the exhaust and block-off is on I wonder if I'll have any side-affects w/backpressure, idle, ect. Some people make it sound easy, others say I have to remove my emission system?

Anyway I'm calling racingbeat and another one(can't think of the name right now...mind train or something?)and ask a bunch of stupid question, teehee. But I'll have to wait until Tues to that..."I'm dyin' ova hea"!

Air Pump block off valve is like $7. Just unbolt the pump, remove the belt, use some loctite gasket maker glue, and bolt the plate on.

Rats nest is just removing all of those solenoids and then plugging the proper vacuum lines. www.rx7club.com has an entire walk through in the archives section with pictures on how to do it properly. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Exhaust... where are you at?

Racing beat all the way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Now if emissions tests are an issue there are some good cats to put on there with the header and a decent muffler.

okeedokee the pump sound seasy enough, thanks for making it simple.

So your saying the rats nest has to be removed to do the airpump/cat removale?

I've tried to view the rxtclub walk through before but my piece of krap computer(an ancient artifact)wouldn't allow me to..I'll try it again.

Thanks bro

I got my rebuild kit for the nikki at RockAuto.com ~ 28.00 and some change. All crush washers are aluminum and Copper.
