i need some help and fast!
im looking into picking up a 1983 gsl. i found this one which is pretty sweet. its a five speed (mines automatic), the motor sounds great, no smoke or anything. Did i mention the guy is giving me two for 1500? im not getting ripped off, i did a compression test on the running one and it was good (all 3 sides of each rotor). the other one ran, but he got it for free to put the carb from that one in the running one. the non running one which could run is an 81 gsl. but enough blabbering about this. my real problem is that the running one has something funky going on with the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. we bled the thing multiple times, and it would get pressure. it actually worked perfect. but after a while it would lose pressure and would have no resistance when you pushed it to the floor. you would think a fluid leak is the cause, right? well it doesn't loose any fluid. none at all. in fact, we believe it is taking on air somehow, we jsut don't know how. has anybody had this happen to them before and how do i fix it? the guy legitimately is moving in the next couple days and if we can't get it running tomorrow im not buying it. it really is a steal so i really do want it. anyone who can help me out i will love you forever. thank you guys.
i got the clutch problem under control. both the master and slave cylinders were shot. now she holds pressure beautifullly. now theres something else. the ignition switch has a dead spot between 2nd and 3rd position. the thing will crank but the second it turns back to second, the whole car shuts off. all the idiot lights turn off and everything, but when you turn it just right into 2nd position they will come back on. it doesn't look like the ignition switch will come out of the steering column and the haynes manual does not specify how to remove it. has anyone ever done this? and if so could you please help me out? thank you in advance
