my 84 GSL-SE is having some issues idling since I installed new injector seals. To do this I removed the upper Intake, and while I was in there, replaced lots of bad vacuum hose. Now it will start, but it jumps from 500 rpm to 1500, then comes back down and does it again. I would really like to make this stop. Also the tps was tapped closed by the previous owner... I also can't adjust it so that I get voltage only on one test lead, I either have it at both, or neither. Does this mean-sound like a bad tps? as they are $200+ I don't want to buy one only to find that it didn't fix my problem.

thanks for the help in advance,

Christopher King

You have an intake leak. Almost everyone that takes an upper intake off and puts it back on usually has a leak. The gaskets aren't the best for sealing. You may have to take it back off, clean both surfaces real good, and then use RTV or Permatex Gold. This will give you a good seal.

Mine will do the same thing every once in a while... I found the messing with the cold idle screw and the idle air/fuel mixture helped... For some reason my TPS sensor with the screw in it, i can turn and turn and turn and nothing will change.. but it seems to run fine. Though while driving it will surge and you can feel it.. Still need a good tune i guess

Thanks for all the info, I will be with my car fairly soon, and will look into it some more. I have already read that page, but it is useful to get a refresher. I already have used permatex while i was waiting on the gaskets to come from who knows where... still doing this, however I think it might be my hard line from the air cleaner-maf to the throttle body, that is leaking... I will look into this in a few days when I get back to my parents house.

Happy holidays all,

Christopher
