I hear that the tranny goes at the 250-300hp mark. But its the torque that destroy's things more than the power.

I feel a "good" gsl-se trans, drive shaft and rear end can take allot of HP. In a year and a half only broke one axle and three trans. No drive shafts. The axle broke on a 6000rpm dump the clutch launch with the drag radials at 15psi. It broke so fast the two staging lights were still on when the axle broke. The trans broke above 6500rpm's on me. My peak torque is very high because of the homemade UIM. Never broke a trans launching or shifting gears. One trans lasted a year. when removing it I noticed it only had about a quart of oil in it. One trans broke with less the 20 passes. It was a used 12a trans with no back ground info. It shifted good and made no noise, broke in third gear at 7000rpm's. I think the 1st gen stuff can take allot of HP but it can not take a excessive amount of abuse. i.e. 7000rpm launches every day with good tires, clutch kicking the rear end around. Estimate the RWHP around the 430-450 mark. For the last 9-10 months the RWHP was above 350. Street driven with over 200 1/4 mile passes, just to give you a idea of what the car can take.

i think since the rotaries dont make tons of torque it saves parts but they haul *** because they make so much power!!
