as the description states, i have a few concerns that im not sure about, i dont know much of anythin about how a rotary engine is suppose to act, i know it has issues with cold starts and needs to warm up or its idle is low and its sluggish etc., but the problem is mine never seems to get better once its warm, it idles around 8 to 900rpms but it has a vibration, its barely noticeable, if you slowly give it gas the rpms climb but once it gets to around 2,000rpms it seems like its missing and sometimes the rpms even drop below 1,500 then come back up, im not sure whats to blame for this, the MAF is pretty dirty, and i think the TB is aswell, what kind of gasket do i need if i need one to take that all off and clean it good

my other concern is the white smoke, when i first got it running, it smoked like crazy for about 5 minutes straight, then it cleared up and didnt smoke at all even at really high rpms or at start up, after drivin it for alittle while its started to smoke at start up, now it even smokes onces it warm if u get the rpms high

and last but not least, i think i would like to get rid of the stock intake system, i know alot more about carbs so i think that would make it easier for me, what would b the best way to do this?

ok so i have one more question, where can i learn more about what porting is on these engines, bridgeporting and whatever other kind of porting there is? is there a section on this forum that explains it all?

sorry for all the questions, but i thats the best way to learn

You can find out about porting in Rotary Engine Building and Porting section. There are TONS of write up's on there, and there is a thread started every day about certain points.

First thing to diagnose with your starting problems. Is to check 3 easy things: Air, Fuel, and Spark. Might also want to check your grounds also, as your car is 20 years old, things have gotten old and brittle.

Intake system I am not sure of, why ditch EFI when it is working perfectly fine(that is when it is). There are many carb set ups for these cars. You can find them on www.racingbeat.com. They are probably the best to go for, for your rotary needs. They have TONS of stuff, and are dedicated to Mazda's and Rotary engines. Tons of racing history also.

Good luck, and maybe somebody can move this, PM the moderator for this section and ask him to move it for you.
