Whats up guys. So I have an 84 GSL, and also have this 90 GXL parts car. I was thinking about a brake conversion. Any one done it or have any info?

I have seen that kit. but what are you paying that much money for at the bottom it says. it says you supply calipers, rotors and pads? $375 for instructions

You can do a front subframe swap, from what I have read it is actually 10 lbs lighter than the 1st gen and requires little modification to get it to work (some minor notching of the frame to make it fit) Gimme a lil bit and I'll find the link to the walk thru.

linkie to a PDF for ya http://www.bcrx7.com/swap.pdf

thats a great write up. thanks 1revnrex. I think im going to do that. now my next project is the rear end. i want the 5 lug and the bigger brakes. I wonder if I can get the the 90 rear end under there https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

2nd gen has independent rear suspension its not like a 1st gen, you'd have to do some heavy modification but its possible. Im looking into a GSL-SE rear so I can have a LSD or more likely a Miata Torsen LSD and just gonna stay with Watts link setup.

I'm doing this very thing right now...I'm putting FC 5lugs on my 85 GS spindles. I have a machine shop that's making a collar so that the inner bearing of the FC hubs fits snugly on my FB spindles.

They've had my spindle for two weeks but the shop has a lot of big name customers that come first. I hope to hear something in this next week. I've promised to post results of everything so that people can have this done themselves.

I was thinking about just modifing the axles. but then the car would handel a lot better with the independent rear. I also belive my rear end in the GXL is a 3.90 its an auto. im not much on gear ratios but the GSL rear is a 4.10, so the 3.90 is a little more streetable

4.10 would give you a little bit more punch from the light and the 3.90 is gonna give you better cruising rpms. All depends on what you consider "streetable". The GSL would get my vote just for the LSD factor and the fact that you can pack the rear end to work the way you want.

Im sorry yah it I think it does, I heard you have to grind the axle down where it fits into the differential a bit to get the 84-85 axles to fit. I could be wrong its happened like once before. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
